Lonesome Dove "the land" was purchased by me in July of 2002 as an expensive hunting camp. I bought a small camper and put it up on the hill to stay in during hunting season. Almost immediately, I began planning to build my wife's and my retirement home. My goal was "pay as you go" and do all the work myself. This began the Summer of 2003.
In the Spring of 2008, my wife and daughter came with me to look at the progress I was making on the house (quite frankly, it was not much as I only built when I had money for materials and on the weekends when I could come to camp). While standing on the hill, overlooking the house I was building, my daughter suddenly and without warning asked me if she could put a double wide on the site! I did not give her time to back out. That September, we all moved into an FHA Approved Double Wide Home.
